But I have some films that require a specific build that I'm diligently keeping, otherwise they OOS. What are we supposed to do, refraining from playing any game that is worth preserving when helping you betatest?

Elfoid: Running the 1.4.x application in your 1.6 directory will wreck your 1.6 preferences, and vice-versa.

While playing around with a hex editor I discovered that the length of each film is encoded as an integer multiple of 1/30 seconds in the 4 bytes starting at offset 0x48 of the file. The length includes Planning Time and 10.00 seconds of "Messing Around Time" after the game is over. Below...

I agree that it's a shortcoming in Wine. Here's more info about it: http://wiki.winehq.org/DInput Wine aims to be compatible with Windows, so of course you can sit and wait for them to get more compatible. Or... you can consider Wine to be a 3rd platform (alongside Mac and PC) which is like Windows...

"DirectInput", another checkbox I hadn't noticed! It was off in my test. I turned it on and have the same mouse problem. I traced the dinput calls and it seems to make more of them, the new ones being keyboard related. In summary: DirectInput=off uses direct input for mouse DirectInput=on...

Wow, 273 has a Windowed mode checkbox? I hadn't noticed. There I was, waiting for Melekor to release a windowed version of build 273. A difference between 273 windowed and Melekor's "MythII_windowed_beta.exe" is that the windowed beta fixed the mouse recentering bug when running under Lin...

Thanks for your answers. Melekor has the best comment: to fix the problem you have to somehow make a character appear that never appeared before. Every other trick (typing "pi" or pressing some F-keys) is just a means to that end. Anyway I hope this gets fixed in an upcoming build.

6 pages to basically say that Myth is like Chess because at each timestep you choose an action to improve your position, and your opponent(s) do the same, then asking if a computer could play Myth perfectly. (Myth is actually closer to Backgammon because of the chance element in Myth. But computers...

Oops, there I was the other day congratulating Grasshopper for "his" great in-game music, but still complaining that he used only two chords -- the theme had more potential. Now I see that the real composer is Michael Andrews. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Andrews_%28musician%29 Un...

After alt-tabbing I often get this problem: http://wismuth.com/misc/myth-font-bug.jpg This affects F7 and most importantly the chat. Sometimes the problem fixes itself after a certain time but not always. I could reproduce this on 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 build270. This is under Windows XP and Direct3D mode...

I'm sorry I couldn't find any film/screenshot to support my autohost bug claim. Maybe I should start autohosting again. This reminds me of another issue: It's not fun to discard that 20 FFA game rotation series just so you can autohost a series of mazz games, so I was trying to build a collection o...

AUTOHOST bug/suggestion Bug: I left Autohost on one night and it was stuck for most of the night in LMOTH SDN DEATH with 0 player. I suppose this happened because no one loaded (or maybe even because everyone dropped before tagging?) Anyway, games should automatically end when there is 0 player lef...

Not completely wasted. Any kill past 256 doesn't contribute to vetting, but it still removes a menacing monster from the map.
